Colleen’s BA 5K is an annual fundraiser established in the memory of Colleen Mitchel, who was born with biliary atresia (the most serious pediatric liver disease), had a liver transplant at 7 months old and died in 2013 at 19 years old from advanced liver disease, while waiting almost four years on the transplant list for a second liver.
Proceeds support Donate Life programs in the DMV that educate the community on the dire need for organ donors and fund groundbreaking research at the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Liver Center into the root cause of biliary atresia (BA) and improving outcomes for children living with liver disease and post-transplant.
Run details:
- 5K run is chip timed
- Prizes will be awarded for the 5K run
- Strollers, wheelchairs and dogs on a leash are allowed on the 1-mile run/walk
- Celebration following the run/walk at Grace Episcopal Day School
- Great raffle items
- Event held rain or shine
